Working as a security officer should be a thing of pride, however, this is not always the case in Nigeria. Across the country, the perception of the police, army, navy and air force is at its lowest ebb especially as the north-eastern part of the nation lives through a period of social unrest.
Unlike their counterparts in other climes, security operatives here are misrepresented on a frequent basis. In a bid to pay homage to the armed forces and dispel untrue assumptions, here are 6 great facts about Nigeria’s men in uniform.
Like most humans, when military officers hold a gun they may feel a rush of power; a strong sense of authority but the good thing is that they have been trained to master a high degree of self-control. This way, they are able to enforce justice and fairness when carrying out their duties. So be as calm and as honest as possible when you meet them. Try not to argue and do whatever they say as long as it is within the boundaries of the law.
However, if you feel threatened at some point, remember to get their names – usually written on the left-side of the breast-pocket – or patrol vehicle number and report to a superior officer and civil society organisation.
A 28-year-old man, Ajayi Peters, aka Ajana, has been stabbed to death in the Yaba area of Lagos State after a disagreement over N50 loaf of bread.
PUNCH Metro learnt from residents that Peters was killed by a bread vendor, identified simply as Yinka, aka Buredi.
Our correspondents gathered that Peters had tried to prevail on Yinka after he refused to sell a loaf to one of his customers on credit.
It was learnt that there was an argument between the men and in the ensuing scuffle, Peters grabbed a knife and stabbed the deceased in the head.
He was said to have died in a private hospital.
The incident happened at a roundabout on Church Street, Makoko, Yaba, where Yinka sold bread on a slab.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told PUNCH Metro the fight began around 11pm on Tuesday.
He said, “The incident happened on Tuesday, June 16, around 11pm. The man that died was collecting fees from traders. He and Buredi (Yinka) had been having issues because Ajana (Peters) and some members of his group sometimes threw away his goods whenever they had problems with him.

So many people have talked, and many reactions both positive and negative continue to trail the legalization of same sex marriage in all US states, but the one i find most hilarious is that of Zimbabwe's president, Mr Robert Mugabe...... he said he will have to ask for Obama's hands in marriage kikikikik
During Mugabe's weekly radio interview with Zimbabwe’s national radio last Saturday, he said:
“I’ve just concluded since President Obama endorses the same-sex marriage, advocates homosexual people and enjoys an attractive countenance thus if it becomes necessary , I shall travel to Washington, D.C. , get down on my knee and ask Obama’s hand. I can’t understand how these people dare to defy Christ’s explicit orders as our Lord prohibited mankind from sodomy.''
Mugabe said the American Government is run by pervert, Satan-worshipers who insult the Great American nation.
"That the American tradition and heritage was based on lofty Christian principles, but to the detriment of this great nation, America’s corrupt political elite is acting according to their diabolic whims".
Hahahahaha, Chai, this man is hilarious. hehe, He wants to marry Obama. LOLOLOL.
What do you want Madam Michelle to do, hian! marry your own wife, Grandpa Mugabe? And i guess Obama's pet name will 'Cherie koko'' abeg i can't laugh Ojare.

A Beninoise, Kwenume Ojo, aka Abiodun, has been arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly killing her husband, Jimoh Ojo, 32, in the Yaba area of the state.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Kwenume put poison in her husband’s soft drink and forced it down his throat while he slept on the bed.

He just like Yemi Alade claims that BET gives the African category of the awards hours before the main show..
I don already give una my 2kobo advice. All Africans should boycott the awards. you are still the ones who spend cash on visas and tickets, and on top wetin, to take the award shamefully? Mba!
“Some time in 2013, the Action Congress OF Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) resolved to merge and set up a merger committee to work out the modality for glueing together as one political party under one name, one constitution and one manifesto.
“A splinter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) sought to be included in the merger. An application made to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to this end by All Progressives Congress (APC) National Interim Committee, composed of ACN, ANPP, CPC, and factions of APGA and Democratic People’s Party (DPP) was approved in July, 2013.
“Between Bola Ahmed Tinubu (an ACN leader) and Kashim Imam (a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader), the idea came up and was adopted that the new party should embark on a membership recruitment drive to certain PDP governors, whose main agenda was to see President Goodluck Jonathan out of power. “The recruitment efforts took APC leaders to Rivers, Kwara, Niger, Sokoto, Kano, Jigawa and Adamawa states.
Na wah oh.
Y'all should boycott the BET, or better still have our very own African version, and let's make it better.

Okay someone has pulled some strings.. chai! politics in Naija is survival of the fittest. hehe
press release below:
Again, the attention of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki has been drawn to a malicious, false and totally reprehensible news report, wherein it insinuated that the election of Dr. Bukola Saraki as the Senate President of the 8th Senate was facilitated by Nigerians associated with dubious claims in the infamous oil subsidy.
The news report went further to give a negative and dirty impression that the emergence of the President of the 8th Senate is aimed to sabotage the anti corruption posture of President Buhari led Federal Govt as well as sabotage the 'Change agenda' of the APC
One of such desperate attempts to justify this blackmail and others was the story published in newspapers of Monday June 29 2015 as contained in a statement issued by the former Interim National Chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande.
Ordinarily, we would have ignored the report, but for the sole reason that some undiscerning readers might mistake the fiction for the facts.
We also wish to state unequivocally that it was wrong and mischievous for the statement by Chief Akande to link what happened on the floor of both chambers to some unnamed oil barons.
We dare say that the entire story was the figment of the imagination of the author.
We make bold to state that in the 7th Assembly, Senator Bukola Saraki was Chairman of the Senate Adhoc Committee which exposed the fraud and mismanagement in the oil sector.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, on Sunday said that a court process instituted by 30 All Progressives Congress members stopped him from acting on a letter from the party’s leadership, nominating four principal officers for the lower chambers of the National Assembly.
He also said that reliance on conventional wisdom alone would not solve the nation’s problems, noting that the country would likely achieve limited success without prayers.
Dogara specifically urged Nigerians to pray for the success of President Muhammadu Buhari and other persons in leadership positions in the country.
A statement issued in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Turaki Hassan, quoted the Speaker as making the calls during a church service held at the Living Faith Church, Durumi, in the Federal Capital Territory.
Cynthia did an interview, where she said she can't date any man in the same entertainment industry that they are full of crap, and broke. The Presidency has replied to PDP's assessment of President Buhari's administration one month after inauguration. Olisa Metuh, the Spokesperson of PDP had in a statement released earlier today called on Nigerians to pray for the Buhari led administration, saying that it has been all motion but no movement. In a swift reaction, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina in a statement released tonight said the new administration is cleaning the filth of the last one
“It is amusing to read what the National Publicity Secretary of the defeated Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, considers a 30 days appraisal of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration. He wants Nigerians to join hands in prayers for the government, so that things would begin to move.
Chai! Omoleye Sowore has no chill at all oh. The guy can dig!! LOL

The decomposed body of the former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Prof. Albert Ilemobade, who was said to have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen last week, has been found in a store in his Ijapo Estate residence in Akure, Ondo State capital.
The former University don was reportedly abducted last Monday along with his gateman and was said to have been taken to an unknown destination until his body was found yesterday.
It was gathered that the octogenarian’s decomposed body was found after the arrest of two of his domestic staff by security agents in Ogun State, while they were trying to sell the Toyota RAV4 Jeep stolen from the late Ilemobade’s residence.
After interrogation, it was discovered that the two suspects confessed to the killing of Ilemobade, hiding his corpse in a store, which housed the generating set before running away with his vehicle.
A signal was, however, sent to the Ondo state Police command from Ogun State command.
All attempts to speak with any of his family members was not successful as some them, including two of his children and his wife could not mutter a word, while some other members of the family were seen crying.
But the Vicar of the Vining Church, Dr Ayodeji Fagbemi who was at the Ilemobade’s residence, confirmed to DAILY POST that the body of the deceased was found in the store soaked with diesels.
So, the news is that the presidency is building a helipad for president Buhari in his hometown, Daura, and Nigerias won't let the matter rest. lol

"I have always wanted to address this issue of brand ambassadors, but never found the right time or right words. It however came together today when I read @bankywellington's phone stolen. He posted something to show how angry he was with the theft of his phone. Some sympathized while some thought he should stop whining about the phone, BECAUSE HE GOT IT FOR FREE. That is the reason I decided it was the right time to post my take on BEING A BRAND AMBASSADOR. Obviously, a lot of people think the pecks anyone enjoys from a corporation that selects you as a brand ambassador is FREE. You wish!
The word SELECT is not a lucky dip when it comes to brand ambassador dynamics. Whatever you get as a brand ambassador is not "dash". It's part of what you are being paid for your services.
Wow! this is amazing. well, the body kinds of snaps back after childbirth, especially id it is the first pregnancy, and more importantly when you are breast feeding.
Her is her caption to the above photo.
''7 days postpartum .. Breastfeeding does magic to our bodies and help us create that deep bond with a baby and Im so grateful Im capable of doing it ...And its giving me boobs of life. And I couldn't help but to notice some of ya bitter ass comments making it seem like woman who still manage to look decent after childbirth is a bad mother. It doesn't get at me because I do not take such things personally but Shame on you as a woman for u underestimating our own worth. God created us all with some extra straight and super-powers,we can be anything we want to be. Once you stop being bitter and get rid of all excuses and focus on using ur full potentials u already blessed with,u will become the best version of you. State of mind is everything. #DontBeBitterBeBetter"
Btw, Kenny is Nigerian, he is gay, and HIV positive.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina,on Saturday, said there was no truth in the claim by Saraki that he stepped down for President Buhari in the APC presidential race.
Adesina, in an interview with Punch correspondents, said the issue of stepping down did not arise because the party conducted a free and fair presidential primary which Buhari won.
The presidential spokesman said all Nigerians know those who took part in the party primary.
Adesina said, “There was no issue of stepping down during the presidential race in the APC. There was a presidential primary that was plain, transparent, free and fair.
The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has reacted to reports his recent moves are a calculated attempt towards running for presidency in 2019.He said he actually quit for president Buhari..He also denied he is leaving the APC due to the party crises..Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Saraki said
“I was the first person that stepped down his political ambition, once General Buhari announced that he was going to contest the presidential election. And since then, prior to the period of election, I worked tirelessly to support his emergence.
“Even some of my friends who are not supporting me now are doing so because I did not support them in their presidential ambition and that I supported President Buhari. That is why I find it funny that the same people are now claiming to love Buhari more than me. It is a very funny world.
“These are people that I was begging to leave the stage for Buhari to run since all of us are young. They are now the one going round to say that Saraki did not like Buhari but time will tell.”
After the lingering family crises,Emmanuel Adebayor’s mother Alice and younger brother, Rotimi have apologised to the Tottenham Hotspur’s star following the visit of the delegation from Nigeria.
According to a member of the delegation, Emmanuel Folorunsho, who confirmed this to Sunday Sunsorts in a phone chat, Adebayor’s mother was remorseful and even prayed for his son but the football star is yet to accept their plea owing to some reasons which he wouldn’t like to reveal.
“We met Alice at the market in Koviakope where she sells kitchen utensils. She was quite surprised to see us. She presented her own case and prayed for his son.
He however said Emmanuel and his mother didn't see each other during his recent trip to Togo.
Sunday Sunsports also gathered that Rotimi, who survived a suicide attempt 10 days ago, was at the meeting in Adebayor’s house in Didjole. Rotimi told Sunday Sunsports Emmanuel invited him and he obliged.
“I was at home in Avedji when he called me to join the peace meeting. I prostrated to him for long hours, begging and seeking for forgiveness. I am really frustrated now and I really expect him to pardon us now”
Its the season of the 'ripped' Lol.
Although i won't be caught dead doing the 'ripped' denim ...ish, but i so love her stilletoes! and those legs are hawt!
In a statement released in Lagos by his Manager, Mr. Sunday Are, Wizkid said Globacom is a brand he had admired for a very long time considering its strong persona and its very massive impact and image in the entertainment industry in Nigeria.
“Globacom is huge in my industry and I see the evidence of the company’s commitment to improving the industry and the lives of its practitioners everywhere I turn. To be honest, it’s been a dream to have a working relationship with the Glo brand. An opportunity to turn this dream to reality came, and I took it.”
“It’s an incredible blessing to be sought after by arguably Nigeria’s two most powerful brands at the same time. My decision to go with Globacom this time is not an act of spite against MTN. I simply seized an opportunity to move from Yellow land to greener pastures. God bless.
17 days after his election, Senator Bukola Saraki, opened up yesterday on the controversial poll, saying those against him planned to abduct him to prevent him from emerging as Senate President.
Saraki disclosed that, on Tuesday, June 9, Senate inauguration day, following information he got of the abduction plot to keep him off the National Assembly, he altered his schedule by arriving the parliament car park at 6am, stayed in his car and then trekked at quarter to 10am into the chamber.
He denied the rumour that for him to win, he entered into a pact with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Senator Ike Ekweremadu to be produced as his deputy, just as he stressed that the absence of All Progressives Congress, APC, senators in the chamber paved the way for the emergence of Ekweremadu.
The Senate President, who noted that the emergence of Ekweremadu will make things difficult for him, said, “Never in our wildest imagination did we envisage that some senators would not be present on the day of the inauguration.”
Speaking with journalists, in Abuja, Saraki insisted that he never got any message to attend a meeting at the International Conference Centre (ICC) with President Muhammadu Buhari on the Senate inauguration day.
Apparently troubled by the spate of happenings in the Nigerian political scene, Dele Momodu have written a very long long letter to President Buhari.
Your Excellency, I write to you today with a heavy heart. The reason should be obvious. I was one of those latter day converts to Buharism, a political philosophy that believes in the reincarnation of former leaders in the days of tribulation. You were never the first man to resurrect from retirement and near political oblivion. General Olusegun Obasanjo bounced back from prison to Aso Rock Villa. In nearby Benin Republic, former military dictator and strongman, Mathieu Kerekou who had served as maximum ruler for about 17 incredible years, came back to defeat incumbent President, Nicephore Soglo in a 1990 election. He led his country for another ten years and almost got another five-year term but for the age barrier that disqualified him.
It is normal for Africans to run towards the wise elders of the village when trouble comes knocking. That is one of the major reasons Nigerians in their millions voted with their feet and thumbs to elect you President. Many of those who supported you did so for several other reasons and you must understand that they were mainly not members of your political party, APC. So, apart from your age, they backed you because they believed in your impeccable pedigree as an incorruptible and honourable man, a strict disciplinarian, a Scrooge who would not fritter away our meagre resources, a scourge of rogues and prodigal sons, a metamorphosed tyrant now a born-again democrat, and so on and so forth. Nigerians ardently placed their hopes in you and fervently prayed you won’t disappoint them.

This story just makes me want to cry.. This is love, deep, and simple! thank God he is alive..
[As reported by Dailymail]
When they say the words 'I'll take a bullet for you",it's unimaginable that there are actually people who would do that for their lovers...A British father is fighting for life after being shot three times in the stomach while trying to save his fiancee from terrorist gunmen after they attacked a tourist resort in Tunisia.
According to Daily Mail,Matthew James, 30, from Cardiff, was staying at the Bellevue Hotel in Sousse when extremists attacked the nearby beach, killing 37 and injuring 36.
His fiancee Saera Wilson, 26, has described how the couple were sunbathing by the crystal blue waters of the Mediterranean when the attack began.Miss Wilson, who is believed to have one child by Mr James and another from a previous relationship, said her fiancee used his body as a human shield to protect her as the attackers opened fire.
She said, despite being covered in blood from the attack, he told her to run away, adding 'tell our children that their daddy loves them.' She said
President Muhammadu Buhari, has dissolved the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) with immediate effect.
According to NTA, the dissolution was conveyed in a letter signed on Friday, by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi.
The President thanked members of the dissolved board for their services to the nation.
If there is any group of individuals who can manufacture shock, political punditry out of nothing, it is the All Progressives Congress. They cried out that Jonathan was doing a terrible job as President of Nigeria. They said his inability to run the Federal Government is the reason our country has lapsed into wholesale chaos. He is the reason corruption decimated our population, turned brother against brother.
He is the reason our military became weak and our borders constantly breached by Niger, Chad and Cameroonian gendarmes. He is the reason our cities have all lost power and we have reclined back into the dark ages.
He is the reason why thousands of wild dogs/Boko Haram roam our streets and rip our children apart. With democracy being an institution where we worry about how many people ‘agree’ about certain things, APC must be concerned that Nigerians are actually seeing that Buhari is not the messiah we need.
When I wrote that Nigerians shouldn’t celebrate Buhari yet, a lot of his sympathisers reached for my scalp with all types of derogatory vocabularies. Now, just a couple of days into his regime and even before the flag is hoisted up the pole, the same people have started singing the same old song that he is too slow. Just like in the time of Jonathan. Why am I not surprised?
Its a long one, but worth the read...
Following some recent developments around my person and the avalanche of misinformation and deliberate lies being peddled about me, I am constrained to issue this statement, first to douse anxiety of every well-meaning fellow who has shown concern and second, to alert members of the Nigerian public to a clear danger to my life.
On June 1, 2015, I travelled out of the country by LH 595 operated by Lufthansa with seat number 04K to honour a medical appointment and also attend my daughter’s graduation at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. On June 02, 2015, a newspaper posted a headline that I had been apprehended and taken to custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for fraud and misappropriation of public funds.
On inquiry, I discovered that the story was taken to the newspaper in question by an aide of a top politician in my state, Imo. Instructively, the story was carried by only the newspaper in question. A few days later, the same aide of the supposedly top politician took another fake news to some media houses that I sneaked abroad to dispose of my properties because of bankruptcy.
A very ghastly accident happened yesterday , along Benin-Shagamu expressway,(Close to Ilishan) claiming some lives of about 10 students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, (OOU), and the bus driver.
The bus they were travelling in had an head-on colision with a truck, carrying an empty container.
The driver of the truck was said to be at fault, as he drove against the traffic, and the container fell on the bus, killing all travellers in the bus. the bus was headed for Lagos.
The corpses of teh dead have been deposited at the morgue, at OOUTH.
May their souls find rest.

As the rift between the APC party and the Senate and the HoReps deepens, the Senate leader, Senator Bukola Saraki has written to his party. the APC. The APC had formerly written to Sarki and DOgara, listing the namesof the people to be fixed in principal offices at both the senate and the HOR. but in an unfortunate turn of event, the list was not followed, and things degenerated into fights, and chair throwing.
Above is the letter that Saraki wrote to the APC. the man says his hands are tied, and there is nothing much he can do.
