According to Punch, public funds that have been returned by some past government officials who looted the treasury while in power are currently with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Always screen those who benefit from you! Ali Baba writes.

Hmmmm... As a human being, It comes to a time when you ask yourself, to what end? You ask not because you expect gratitude in return to your generosity but because your generosity made you ask yourself, should I really have? I have shared the story of my digital camera before. Sometime this year, someone asked to use my Hummer for a wedding. He brought it back unwashed.
Half eaten kpoff kpoff, chicken bones, cans of soft drinks, take away packs... Littered the car. Oh, the car was fuelless! Let's not go to unpaid "just borrow me small cash"... There was also someone who had benefitted from me & was bad mouthing me at KLINK studios until a friend, Joe Adekwagh, challenged him about how he witnessed my generosity to him when his wife put to bed and they had accommodation issues. And the guy said "Ehen? If he assist me that time, Na that assistance I go chop till I die?"

Etcetera writes. says its risky to have PMB as president and petroleum minister at the same time.

It is beginning to unfold how risky and dangerous it is for Nigeria that Buhari doubles as president and the petroleum minister. As the president, he already has too much on his plate with too many issues pulling the country towards collapse.

From the north, Boko Haram is threatening to drag the whole country down a cliff, and if nothing is done pretty soon, we are going to have a situation in our hands with the Biafra movement. It is already a keg of gunpowder waiting to explode in our faces. The business of armed robbery has never been as lucrative as it is today.

The economy is another area that calls for the president’s urgent attention. But what do we have? A president who has more-or-less assumed the role of a jack of all trade while doing nothing in particular. The president should resign as the minister of petroleum immediately if we are ever going to have sanity in the petroleum industry.

He said with the new development, the Lagos State Police Command has been repositioned to compare to similar outfits in other modern City States, expressing optimism that the equipment will go a long way to aid security agencies respond faster to crime.
“Our Police Command will have its operations significantly driven by the right technology and equipment that will match the emerging sophistication of crime in our contemporary time”.
“Members of the Police Command have been undergoing training to better equip them for the job. We have also rebranded the Rapid Response Squad of the State police Command to give them a new identity”.

Very interesting musings about Abubaka Audu's death , written by Reuben Abati

Its a long read, but a very interesting one. enjoy these musings/convo on the death of APC's Kogi state governorship aspirant, and 2 time governor's death...

“You look sleepy”
“My brother, let’s just say I slept at a fuel station, looking for fuel.”
“For which of the women in your life, because I hear these days, to please a woman in Nigeria, you must be ready to supply the three major things lacking in the land: money, fuel, and happiness.”

“Leave that matter, please. My condolences on the death of your man, Governor Abubakar Audu”

“We thank God for his life. He played his part.”
“To be so close to breasting the tape and then fall.”
“I know. I know. May be if he had not insisted on running again for the office of Governor in Kogi state, he would still be alive today.”

Nigerian roads are dead-Buhari.

President Muhammdu Buhari on Wednesday admitted that Nigerian roads are “dead” and required urgent attention of the Federal Government.
The president spoke at a dinner he hosted in honour of senators at the new Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja Wednesday night.
The event was also attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu; the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu; top government officials and presidential aides.
“The roads are dead,” Mr. Buhari said. “Those who drive between Lagos and Ibadan will have a lot of stories to tell you. Those who drive from Kaduna to Jebba may have more stories to tell. The same thing is applicable to the East West roads.”
The president asked the lawmakers to concentrate on the challenge of infrastructure confronting the country, including rail and power.
According to him, if the government could get the railways working, lives and fuel would be saved.

Senate gives Buhari 2-week ultimatum to end fuel scarcity.

THE Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), has directed the Minister of Petroleum Resources,President Muhammadu Buhari, to end the ongoing fuel scarcity in the country within two weeks from now.

This came on the heels of disclosure by the Pipeline Products Marketing Company, PPMC, that Nigeria lost a whopping N50 billion in ten months as a result of vandalisation of petroleum pipeline in some parts of the country.

Chairman of the committee, Senator Uche Ekwunife, who gave the directive,Thursday, in Abuja, during the committee’s meeting with top officials of Ministry of Petroleum Resources, insisted that the petroleum minister must not only end the scarcity but ensure that fuel was sold to the public at government’s controlled price of N87.00 per litre.

Fayose says Buhari is lying about the clamins of retured looted funds.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has carpeted President Muhammadu Buhari’s claim that many of those who looted the public treasuries in the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan had started returning the stolen funds to the government, saying the President should rather stay at home to govern the country instead of junketing around the globe and acting like a saint before the international community.
The governor challenged the President to tell Nigerians how much was returned and the looters who returned the stolen funds, adding that “Since the purported looted funds belong to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it ought to have been paid into the Federation Account and shared by the Federal, State and Local Government.”

Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday that Governor Fayose advised President Buhari to tackle the collapsed economy of the country headlong instead of going from one country to another, casting aspersion on Nigerians with his sing-song of fighting corruption.

Fashola was a propaganda governor, nothing super about him-Lagos PDP.

The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party says the immediate past Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, who is now the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, is not an achiever. The Publicity Secretary of Lagos PDP, Mr. Taofik Gani, said this during a telephone interview with Punch on Tuesday. He said,
“Can Fashola point to any low-cost housing scheme he did in his eight years as governor? The houses he built under the Lagos Home Owners Scheme cost about N15m on average. Can the Eko Atlantic – which cost hundreds of millions of naira to buy – be classified as affordable housing? Can Fashola be compared with former Governor Lateef Jakande who built over 20,000 housing units in four years?

“There is nothing super about Fashola. He was only compensated by President Muhammadu Buhari because Lagos contributed greatly to Buhari’s campaign.”
The PDP said Fashola’s performance in the area of works when he was governor was abysmal. Gani said most of the projects that Fashola took credit for were done by concessionaires and private companies

Throwing our aged parents in the trash bi-Charly Boy writes.

Life as we all know evolves in stages. From birth, we begin the process of aging. All things being equal, majority of us will grow old. Thus it will be apt to say that aging is inevitable for us. So why do we as a society pay the least attention to this process. What kinda welfare system should we have in order to adequately take care of our aged, (The old people in our society/parents or relatives) especially the ones we love.
For three years before my father passed, he was never paid his pension. My mum is going through the same thing. I keep wondering, what if the financial or emotional means to take care of them was lacking, they probably will be like some of our aged pensioners who probably die standing in line waiting for their pension that never came.

I am of the opinion we are not doing enough as a society. It is deplorable that so many people work and expend all their energy and when they become old, there's no one to really take care of them.

THE BARBERS SEAT: The first time I cut my hair was when I was nine. I had been giving my mum hellon sunday evenings when it was time to get it woven for school. She just decided to put an end to my nonsense and took me to Baba Barber in Obalende. I remember being strapped to his squeaky old, reclined metal and torn brown leatherchair ... It must have taken four adults to hold me down . I can never forget.. How can I ? Baba gave me the full treatment . He was determined to impress my mother . He not only shaved off all my hair .. He took off every strand that lined my face and replaced it with a sharp concave line from ear to ear with his manual rusty clippers .. I was devastated . I walked into class the next day greeted with what sounded like a silent but long eeeeeeew from every one . The experience marred me.. I've seen baba in a few nightmares attempting to dispossess me of my Afro .
