The Lagos zone 2 command of the Nigeria Police has dissociated President Muhammadu Buhari from the case involving a man who named his pet dog ‘Buhari.’
The police, in a statement made available to the Lagos Metro and signed by the zonal Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the ‘Buhari’ in question was not President Buhari .
According to the police, a son to the Alhaji Buhari had reported the case to the police claiming that the arrested Igbo man was referring to his father.
Adejobi, in the statement, said “The attention of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos, AIG Abdulmajid Ali, has been drawn to series of uncomplimentary comments and publications in respect of the case of a man, Joe Chinakwe, who was arrested and charged to court by the Ogun State police command for naming his dog “Buhari” and wishes to state categorically that the matter was grossly misconstrued.”
Mrs. Preye Daniel is unable to get over the death of her first son, Innocent Daniel Kokorifa, who was allegedly killed by policemen attached to the Anti-Vice Unit of the Bayelsa state Police Command.
Mrs. Preye Daniel said on the fateful day that she sent her son to the next street, behind their Road 6, Flat 53, Okaka Housing Estate, Uyo, to give N2,000 to her elder sister’s daughter, but the 17 years old boy did not return home as he was shot by the police.
Narrating the incident, she said after she was informed that policemen had killed his son, the police denied and asked her to say that it was hoodlums so that they can investigate the matter quickly. Mrs. Kokorifa said:
“I sent Innocent to go and give two thousand Naira to my elder sister’s daughter around 11am Thursday morning, later in the day I was informed that Innocent was shot by the police, and I called my husband, who was in Port Harcourt and he asked me to go and find out what happened. “First, when I went to the Anti-Kidnapping office of the police and told them that they have killed my son, they asked me to say that it was bad boys that killed him so that they can investigate quickly.”
Barely two weeks after Lagos state government signed into law the Property Protection bill which is aimed at putting an end to land grabbing(The omo onile menace ) in the state, an Ojodu magistrate court yesterday sentenced a land grabber popularly known as Omo Onile, 37 year old Lekan Adetona, to three months in prison for beating up a site worker who refused to give him money at a site at Anobi Street, Alapere, Ketu.
According to the victim who is a welder, Lekan connived with others still at large to severely beat him up when he refused to give them money. He said on the day of the attack, he had gone to meet some of his friends at a site on Anobi Street, where they were to carry out some construction work. On getting there, he didn’t meet them and as he turned to return to his shop, a group of three young men led by Lekan accosted him and demanded for money, thinking he was the site engineer.
Below is the open letter, signed by the group's spokesperson, Brig.Gen Mudoch Agbinibo:
We call on President Muhammadu Buhari to put away the garb of a stooge to the imperialists, whenever he speaks outside Nigeria. We have listened carefully and halted hostilities in the Niger Delta; we expect a genuine and positive attitude to restructuring and self-determination for every component unit of Nigeria. Dear president, what makes those countries (Japan, Germany, France, USA, Britain etc.) great is the ability of their governments to accommodate internal protestations and conflicts for the greater good of their nations over the years. Please stop presenting your government as pawn to the web of military industrialists complex, whenever you leave the shores of Nigeria.
Nigeria is not a one-man personal property we must have these talks every time if this union must continue to work as one.
Samson Siasia explains the harrowing experience with the team at Atlanta and how He is still being owed 5 months salary..
In an interview with BBC, Bayelsa born Siasia revealed he had quit his post as under-23 coach and has now made more startling revelations as to the team's adventure in Atlanta and Rio de Janeiro.
'I'm still being owed five months salary. They said it's due to TSA (Treasury single account) but i hope they will pay me since my contract has elapsed so that i can go and rest. I thank them for the opportunity to serve my country and it's time to go and rest before thinking of the next move' Siasia told Complete Football magazine.
'I want to savour this bronze medal which is worth more than gold, i'm going on vacation to the United states next week. I need the rest. After that i can begin to plan. For now i need to rest.'
When Siasia was asked the driving force behind his strength in adversity giving that he had faced similar situations at Benin 2005 African youth championship, FIFA U-20 World cup and Beijing 2008, he said;
'I think it's the never say die attitude of the average Nigerian. We usually give our best when our backs are to the wall. It's the power of Naija. I needed to prove myself and didn't want to use a lack of funds as an excuse not to do well. The whole country was behind us and at the end of the day, we did what we had to do. It's a personal principle to give any job i get my best shot and that's what we did. Seeing the joy that medal brought to Nigerians was enough satisfaction for me. I mean the reception at the airport was massive and i also thank the media for their support'
Dear Mr. President, Last year, when you assumed office, the chant of “Change”, your campaign slogan, ushered you into the Presidential Villa.
Today, cries of “hunger” could be heard across the length and breadth of our vast country. Nigerians hunger, not only for food, but also for good leadership, for peace, security and justice.
This letter is to appeal to you to do something fast, and, if you are already doing something, to redouble your effort. May it not be written on the pages of history that Nigerians die of starvation under your watch. As President, you are chief servant of the nation. I therefore urge you to live up to the huge expectation of millions of Nigerians. A stitch in time saves nine.
The way forward
This is the second year of your administration. You and your party promised to lead the masses to the Promised Land. It is not an easy task to lead. But by campaigning for this office, you offered to take the enormous task of leadership upon yourself. Nigerians are waiting for you to fulfill the promises you made during the campaign. They voted you into office because of those promises. The introduction of town hall meetings is a commendable idea. But in practice, you, not just your ministers, must converse with Nigerians. You are the President. You must be accountable to them. The buck stops on your desk. Even if your administration has no magic wand at least give some words of encouragement.
My people, I no go lie, fear dey catch me for the future of our country. I know that there is no vaccine against mismanagement/incompetence. Most Naijas may have concluded that the CHANGE mantra was only 419.
There is great fear in the land, most people are not sure where the country is headed, and what many Nigerians are asking is whether you feel us, your subjects, if you feel our plight at all.

He said Nwaneri was delayed at the gate that morning as she didn’t have gate pass and had begged her way through in the last eight months, since her employers were yet to provide one for her.
Chukwuka claimed that when she eventually got into the residence, the man’s wife queried her for coming late and she explained that she was delayed at the gate for lack of pass.
Angered by her explanation, the woman was said to have confronted her husband, who then asked the young lady to give him the form he gave her to fill to commence the process.

''Last Friday, my phones rang again and again (thank God for dead phones gradually playing Lazarus), but what triggered that ring-ring was the article:
“The Man Who Named His Dog Buhari” (August 26) in which I had indicated all the positive attributes of a dog and why a man naming his dog Buhari should not generate a community and legal trial or so much stress in the public space. One caller kept me on the phone for close to two hours.
He said he was proceeding right-away to buy a dog and name it Reuben Abati and that he would bring that dog to my neighbourhood, with the name inscribed on both sides of the dog and he would in my presence call out the dog: “Reuben Abati, come and eat, Reuben Abati, stop shouting, Reuben, stop being stupid, Reuben, you this idiotic dog!” and he’d like to see my reaction.
I laughed. He said it was not something to be amused about, because although I had argued that a dog is a man’s best friend, and that in other societies, a dog is treated with respect and considered loyal and trustworthy, his view was that I failed to acknowledge the fact that in our culture, to attach the name of a man to an animal is definitely an insult.
The militants whose attacks have caused a huge dip in Nigeria’s oil exports, forcing the economy into a big crisis, said last night that they were done with the hostilities.
The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) broke the news in a letter posted on its website by its spokesman, Mudoch Agbinibo, and addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari. It also spoke of the need for regular dialogue to take place for the Nigerian union to survive.
Presidential spokesman Femi Adesina welcomed the cessation of hostilities by the Avengers as “a good development which is in the interest of the country and especially the Niger Delta people.”
He said “anything that portends peace is always good,” adding that “we hope that it cuts across board and it is sincere.”
The Avengers alleged that the Federal Government was out to execute a predetermined genocide against the people of the Niger Delta through the recently launched Operation Crocodile Smile, which the military high command has explained as just a training drill designed to prepare the Amphibious Division for a better mastery of the Niger Delta terrain.

“My husband was a member of the church and he introduced me to the church, because he said that the pastor had a revelation for me (Calista).
She said the revelation had to do the will of God but he later left the church but I refused to leave the church with him.

The Lagos state Police Command has arrested a father of two, who specializes in using social media platforms, particularly Facebook, to lure gullible la
dies to hotels, where he sedates, rapes and dispossesses them of their valuables.
According to the Vanguard, the suspect, Oluwole Falaseye, 30, uses the pseudo-name Nipheme Ajanaku, and poses as an Abuja-based bank manager on Facebook.
Falaseye quickly gets acquainted with his target victim, and after a while he organizes a meeting in a hotel in the Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos state.
He used this ploy to invite a lady identified simply as Mercy for a birthday party in Opera Hotel, at Rasaq Junction, Festac Town, last Friday.
However, Mercy, a student at Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, was unable to attend the “party” in Lagos, so she told her cousin, Tinuke, an undergraduate at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State, to represent her.
Atinuke gave a description of what happened at the hotel.
Below is the statement released by TRIPOB, the new faction;
At an emergency meeting convened by some disaffected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Monday, August 22, 2016 in Aba, Abia state, it was resolved that due to the rigid and fatalistic position of the Nnamdi Kanu led IPOB, several of us with like minds shall breakaway and form The Rebranded Indigenous People of Biafra or TRIPOB.
TRIPOB now sees the Biafra question from a different perspective. Biafra will now become to us a powerful metaphor for change, development and greatness of the Igbos inside a united Nigeria, where the South East axis will be a utopia from the sheer determination borne out of the Biafra metaphor.
We believe in being a part of a united Nigeria, and a new way of thinking, where the victim mentality will no longer be acceptable.
"The High Command of the Niger Delta Avengers condemns the entire security reports linking our forces to the killing of military troops in Nembe Bayelsa state. NDA still wonders when this charade and acts of desperation of the Nigeria military by always linking crimes in the southern part of Nigeria to our fighters will stop. It is a shame that Operations Delta Safe is still employing the old habits of deliberately dinning and wining with unaudited intelligence from political thugs, political paymasters and enemies of the Niger Delta to perpetuate their continuous funding and relevance by catching in on the hunger in the land. One question for the commander of Operation Delta Safe! Who are the people perpetuating the ongoing illegal oil bunkerings in the Niger Delta at the moment? Because we have both video and pictorial evidences of your troops serious involvement in the pervasive crude oil thefts. We have records of how much profit you collect and make per day from these atrocities in the Niger Delta.
Man who named dog Buhari: Comedian Alibaba wants Buhari to call the IGP an Attorney general to order.
What he said:
President Mohammadu Buhari is a respected man. He is a sitting president. Nothing should be done to discredit him. Just as nothing should be done to rubbish his name. But to all his dogged supporters who are screaming blue mother because of the dog issue, hear this, this is the same path people who messed up Jonathan's presidency took.
You can not tell me that in the over weeks or so that this issue of name dog or not name dog started, the people who work with or work for PMB have not brought it to his notice. Is that what is bothering this country? How many Fulani herdsmen who have killed several Nigerians have been swiftly brought to justice like this dog naming guy?

Betty Iraboh the CEO of Genevieve magazine, had written about domestic violence and women in marriages/relationships. People commented, bu the one that caught people's eye was a comment made by Toke Makinwa's estranged hubby, Maje Ayida. He wants to know Betty's views about men in abusive relationships too. and this just made people want to put one and one together to deduce that maybe Maje was just a victim of domestic violence too.
Below is what Betty wrote:
#TalkTuesday Marriage by fire by force??? Sometime ago, a young friend of mine found herself in an abusive marriage. Initially, her husband never laid a finger on her, he let his tongue do the job. He called her all sorts of names and lashed out at her with foul words. He would always dare her to pack and go and would always chuckle "let's see where an old cargo with 3 kids like you will go; who will even look at you?".
She did try to leave a couple of times but somewhat returned to him after he came to ask her back; promising he would be a better husband. Then the circle of abuse will start all over again. One day however, he went too far when he tried to strangle her for daring to fight back. Bruised and battered, her parents came and took her and the 3 children away.
Lady narrates how an Omega Fire Ministry deliverance pastor shamelessly flirted with her during a supposed retreat program.

In 2013 my mum told me i needed deliverance because i refused to act like a "christian" she took me to a pastor of Omega Fire Ministries (OFM) he said i will do a retreat with him for one month so i went back home to pack my stuff.
This man would always enter my room without knocking. His hands would linger around my breasts when he hugs me...i was uncomfortable but i tried to bring my "mind out of the gutter".
We used to have night prayers and he would prolong the prayers till his heavily pregnant wife got tired and he'll encourage her to go to bed and rest...once she leaves he starts to tell me how much he loves me and how i don't need deliverance because there is nothing wrong with me,and how i am a nice girl who her parents misunderstood.
Mr. John Kerry, the American Secretary of State, President Barack Obama's confidante and Mrs. Hilary Clinton's successor in office, came to Nigeria the other day.
The first meeting that he had was with the Sultan of Sokoto, who is the supreme leader of the Fulani Caliphate, the spiritual leader of all the Muslims of the north and the man who said, only last week, that "Christians commit wicked acts and crimes against humanity" and that "the wearing of the hijab is the right of every Muslim".
The second was with the the 19 northern governors, 16 of whom are Muslims.
The third was our Muslim-fanatic and sharia-loving President who has refused to call his kinsmen, the Fulani herdsmen and militants, to order or to arrest and prosecute even one of them for mass murder and genocide.
On the very same day that all this was happening the Islamic Development Bank visited the President and opened their first office in Nigeria.
The government has also quietly put two separate pieces of legislation before the National Assembly for consideration which, if passed, would on the one hand legalise criminal sharia law and on the other give grazing land to the Fulani herdsmen in the Middle Belt and the south.
