WOman who was once traffiked to Libya tells her harrowing stories to dissuade Youths from travelling through illicit means.

Miss Peju Akins (pseudonym) was offered a poisoned chalice in a Lagos church in January, 2015; she embraced it hook, line and sinker!

A lady she met during Sunday service painted the rosy picture of Libya, with the streets of Tripoli “flowing with milk and honey’’, and the promise that after making money in the North African country, she would easily migrate to Europe.

“I’m lucky to be back in Nigeria alive; many died during the one-month trip through the desert, especially between Agadez in Niger Republic and the Libyan capital, Tripoli. My ‘burger’ (trafficker) succeeded in convincing another lady to make the trip with us from Lagos. We were seeking better life, but it was a regrettable trip and a waste of almost two years of my life.’’

Peju, 26, holds a National Diploma in business administration from a polytechnic in Nigeria’s South-West. She says the first leg of the ill-fated trip, from Lagos to Kano, was fun. Then the next call between Kano and Agadez in Niger Republic, a distance of 715 kilometres, was stressful as they had no travelling documents.

#OndoDecides: Buruji Kashamu blames Mimiko for the APC win in the Ondo elections.

PDP has lost power in Ondo State and the blame game has started. According to Senator Buruji Kashamu, PDP wouldn’t have lost if Governor Mimiko had listened to them. Part of the statement released by the Senator reads;

“We told Governor Mimiko that after eight years in office,  the good people of Ondo State would resist the injustice of producing a successor from the same senatorial district where he hails from.

“It is not that Jegede is not a good material. He is urbane, intelligent and smart. He would have probably won had he come from any other senatorial zone than Mimiko’s.
“We told Mimiko that the people would not take anything that would look like a third term for him and his senatorial district. He would not listen.

Charles Novia releases his best Nollywood actresses for 2016..

This is as published by Charles Novia

"My annual ‘ Top 5 Best Actress/Best Actor’ list has always been released for the past three years during this period and it culminates for me, an exciting year in Nollywood wherein more than ever this year, there was a competitive slant in the quality of acting in the industry.

The year 2016 has been quite an interesting one for Nollywood as one could arguably conclude that more than ever, there were more exciting films released by Nollywood filmmakers at the Box Office than ever in the past five years. With a couple more to look forward to before the year draws the final curtains, some might argue that I am bringing out this list prematurely but I beg to differ. I think I have seen all what I have to see to know that those who make this list this year really deserve to be on this list and have given brilliant performances in 2016.

First, my overview of Nollywood in 2016; Nollywood was phenomenal in international networking and received deserved recognition but still floundering in production ambitions, story directions and elevation of general artistry. Many of the movies which had cinema runs in 2016 by Nollywood Filmmakers had no business being on the big screen and most should have been consigned to television fares rather than wasting the recession-tested money of the movie goers. Having watched many of such movies in 2016 with my team of judges, one’s patience was tested in many cases and I certainly hope that filmmakers would learn that the box office is not necessarily an avenue for boring movie goers with sleep-inducing fares. A lot of Nollywood movies which were released in the cinemas in 2016 had what I term ‘ the smooch factor’; which is an uncomplimentary term I coined where bored couples buy the tickets, find themselves alone in the hall in many cases and begin to smooch themselves while the movie flickers on the screen!

Once again in 2016, television series and serials gave Nollywood films a good run for money and a couple of outstanding commissioned productions opened a new window for me to re-evaluate old and new talents.

I always use the following criteria for awarding my prizes and it hasn’t changed this year; Interpretation, Visualisation, Characterisation and Enunciation.

I do not use ‘Stardom’ ‘A-Listers’ or whatever general considerations others might have in arriving at conclusions. It’s purely professional and nothing personal.

Nancy Isime

I can bet many people would be asking who she is and those who know her as a television presenter on a music channel might not even have an idea that she is an actress. I never did until a few months ago, I watched her in two movies and she completely delivered the goods in both. Nancy featured in ‘Hex’ a short film by music video maestro, Clarence Peters where she played the role of a cagey young lady and played her role to the hilt. Her ability to subsume the role and take over the screen in that short movie first caught my attention and I made a note that this was one lady to look out for in the future. That future came too soon as I watched her a few weeks later in ‘Gidi Blues’, where she played a supporting role but did it so well that it got me wondering why she did not play the lead role in the first place as Hauwa Allahburaka, the lead actress in that movie, was sometimes bland in delivery where it mattered. Nancy Isime gave natural and effortless reactions in ‘Gidi Blues’ and she was a delight to watch. This is one actress to watch out for, if the right scripts find her and all she needs is one big break. Take it from me, this young lady may go places.

1. Baking Soda, Rice Corn, and Hot Water in Cleaning Baby Bottles

2. Natural Cream for Cloth Diapers
It is just so hard to clean a battle bottle that has sticky substances inside. Using a brush will not ease the trouble. Luckily, there is another way to solve this pesky errand. Just put 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda, rice corn, and liquid soap in a pot of boiling over. Afterward, pour them into the baby bottles and let the solution sit for a few minutes. Rinse the bottles afterward. You can guarantee that by doing this, your bottles will be clean and aromatic!
Boil water in a small saucepan or heater. Afterward, melt the coconut oil in the boiling water. If you have extracts of chamomile and calendula, mix them in the solution and let the heating goes until the coconut oil turns yellow. Also, if you can smell the scent of the flowers, then you can stop heating already. Make sure that the level of water doesn’t go down.

Redeemed pastor, Arowolo sentenced to die by hanging for murder of banker wife.

Akolade Arowolo, who was a youth pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has been sentenced to die by hanging for the murder of his banker wife, Titilayo, in 2011.
Titilayo worked with Skye bank, whilst her husband was employed. Prosecutors were able to present compelling evidence that led to the conviction of Mr. Arowolo and his sentencing today by Justice Lateefat Okunu of the Ikeja High Court to death by hanging.
Justice Okunu held in her over three hours judgment that evidence before the court proved that Arowolo actually murdered his wife in their matrimonial home.
Testimony in the form of a forensic report from Prof. John Oladapo Obafunwa, a pathologist, was what the court used to determine that there was no way the deceased could have stabbed herself to death.
Immediately after the judgment, Arowolo fell down in the dock and started shouting “Jesus have mercy.”

PM News also reports:

Prof Obafunwa testified that his autopsy report revealed that Titilayo was killed through 76 knife stab wounds.
He noted that the knife wounds affected Titilayo’s left eye, right eye, upper chest area, right chest and collar bone.

7 year old boy beaten and burnt to death in Lagos for stealing..

I just saw this on Facebook and i am shocked to my bones.
This 7 year old boy was alleged to have stolen(some said Garri, some said he stabbed someone)
Some are also not in agreement with the age. but when does age determine who to be killed and who not to? What has robbed us of our humanity that we now feel its okay to kill some people of a certain age because they did us wrong?
No matter what it is the boy/man stole, what should warrant beating a person this horribly, and then doing the unthinkable?
What is wrong with people, where is our conscience?
i am so shocked and stunned and sad, and ...my emotions are just all over the place.
God have mercy.

Woman dumps lecturer husband to go be with a bricklayer.#photos.

A university lecturer in Nigeria is facing a humiliating dilemma in his marriage after his wife left him for a bricklayer.

Toolz sends lovely birthday shoutout to hubby..

Nigeria-US relations and Donald Trump - Written by Reuben Abati.

I do not share the view of those who assume that by some kind of miracle, in the shape of electoral-college defections, Hillary Clinton would still, on the strength of winning the popular vote, supplant Donald Trump as US 2016 President-elect.

We might as well begin to live with the reality of a Trump Presidency, sad and traumatic as that outcome may be. And coming to terms with that, despite our disappointment, calls for a forward-looking approach on the part of the Nigerian government.

The United States remains Nigeria’s most strategic partner. More than one million Nigerians live in the United States and a significant percentage of that immigrant population has distinguished itself in academia, the health sector, public service, and other aspects of American life. Nigerians are perhaps the most visible and the most influential set of immigrant Africans living in the United States today. It is indeed possible to argue that there is no neighbourhood or community in Nigeria today that does not have at least one representative in America.

Eyewitnesses interviewed by the police said few steps away, he collapsed on Coventry Road. He was later pronounced dead in the hospital.
According to Ottawa’s CBC News, Solomon, who was stabbed by a suspect, who has been identified as 27-year-old Joe Ndikuriyo, was the 17th victim of homicide in Ottawa since the beginning of 2016.
Saturday PUNCH learnt that Ndikuriyo is a Burundian national.
Even though the police in Ottawa have said they were still piecing together the timeline of events that led to the victim’s death, news reports suggest that he was stabbed during a fight between Ndikuriyo and another individual over a woman.
The victim, whose father is a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Lagos according to residents of their neighbourhood in Fagba, Lagos, was admitted to the University of Ottawa in 2012 to study Economics.
Saturday PUNCH visited his parents’ house at the Rotimi Williams Estate, Fagba Estate on Thursday, a fenced mansion, where a domestic employee explained that Solomon’s father had travelled while the inconsolable mother had relocated temporarily from the house.

Pandemonium as Neighbor almost ripped off a fellow neighbor's manhood over potty.

It was a simple household scuffle, which degenerated into fisticuffs. But when 24-year-old Okechukwu Chiagba woke up that day, he did not imagine that he would nearly lose his manhood over something as mundane as a potty.

But that was exactly what happened when he engaged in a scuffle with his neighbour, 41-year-old Michael Essien, a Calabar, Cross River State indigene, over accusation of using a potty without permission.
But by the time the dust settled, Chiagba had sustained a gory tear in his manhood that put him in the hospital for more than one week.
He explained to Saturday PUNCH that the incident that led to his injury began at 6am that day in the apartment building in which he lived with his wife (what is called face-me-I-face-you) in Shasha, Egbeda Lagos.
Chiagba said, “That night, my wife went out to use the toilet. We normally use potties. But when she got to where she put her potty, she could not find it.
“She came back to ask me but I told him I had not seen it. She went outside to look for it and that was when she saw our neighbour (Essien) coming out of the toilet with it.
“My wife came back to report to me. I was preparing to go out and challenge the man for using my wife’s potty when my wife cautioned me not to go. She said she would prefer to go and meet the man’s wife and talk to her. I agreed and let the matter go.”

Church workers colludes with armed robbers to rob church. #Photo

Very scary things are happening these days and one could not help but wonder who exactly is left to be trusted.

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two members of a Methodist Church Cathedral in Ibadan for planning to rob the church with intent to cart away N1.5m.

Public Relations Officer of the command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said a worker in the church, Ogundijo Abiola (43), and the church drummer, Alabi Olukunle (25) had invited a gang of armed robbers to invade the church and cart away the money with the plan to share the loot with the robbers. They were arrested during the Sunday service.
He said, “The anti-robbery squad of the command foiled an armed robbery attack on the church in Ibadan on November 6, 2016 and arrested two members of the church for their involvement in the crime.
“The robbery was at its final planning stage when they were arrested. The planned robbery was conceived by the two suspects, who invited the gang to rob the church of the large sum of money.”

Reasons why Donald Trump won -Piers Morgan

The new President-elect of the United States of America is Donald J. Trump.’
Those, I can say with some certainty, were the words that only Donald himself and me ever thought he might eventually be saying when he first announced he was running last year to global mockery and scorn.

‘Underestimate him at your peril,’ I wrote that day on June 17, 2015, as I explained: ‘Trump has a big popular appeal away from the snobby halls of Washington and New York’s media elite. Regular Americans love the guy; he’s a fierce patriot, gutsy, and bursting with ‘can-do’ confidence.
He doesn’t pretend to be something he isn’t. He’s a big, bold, bombastic… loud, dynamic, compelling and polarizing character.. who craves and commands attention …and who will electrify the tediously long US election process with the same fearless aggression he goes after those who cross him in business or on Twitter.’

I’ll restrain myself from taunting all the baffled, distraught Trump-hating elites currently weeping and wailing into their kale smoothies with an unnecessarily snarky, ‘Told ya!’
But I don’t think it crosses the unseemly gloating line to politely whisper: ‘I did try to warn ya…..!’

Excessive debt pushes Lagos busineman to commit suicide.

A Lagos businessman in his late 60s, James Oriri, was said to have allegedly committed suicide on Friday, in his office, at 393, Old Ojo Road, Satellite Town, Lagos.

Saturday Sun gathered that a large crowd besieged the four-story office complex, once the incident became public knowledge, to catch a glimpse of the man.
Oriri, it was learnt was the Managing Director of Awore Consult, a firm that claims to be an expert in educational consultancy, for people seeking admission to universities, Secondary Schools in Ghana, and to Coventry universities in the UK.
Oriri, an Isoko, from Delta State, has seven children, 6 boys and 1 girl.

According to his neighbours, one of the sons, lives in USA, while two others live in Germany and Ghana, respectively. All of them, the neighbours, continued, are all graduates.
A family member who craved anonymity, could not fathom why James would have to take his own life.

#MarriageCrashBattle Rahma, ex-wife of Muhammad Babangida accuses him of trying to kidnap her children.

#Insert shocked emoji here#

What sort of man would be bent on taking children away from their mother if she is capable of catering to their needs, It is ego or just wickedness or what exactly , to the extent of resulting to kidnap which could have very much lead to the death of these children? especially when the case is still in court??
Haba!! the welfare of these kids should be paramount to both parties. and its a shame that the children are being dragged like property, snatching them up and down like some piece of furniture.

You guys should sort yourselves out and stop traumatizing those kids biko.
